Geoff was the eldest of two sons, born to Ethel & George Southam. At the age of 17, he joined The Royal Navy, travelling to places far and wide as India, Ceylon(as it was called then), Singapore and Canada. After leaving the Navy, Geoff joined General Accident Insurance Company, where he met his wife to be, Joyce, and they married in Kingston Upon Thames in 1955. The arrival of their daughter Gina followed in 1991. Geoff became a partner in the Family Wholesale Toy & Model Business. He then went on to join The George Hotel, working his way up to become Assistant Hotel Manager. He retired initially in 1991, but took up a part time position as a Solicitors Clerk. In the same year, he lost his wife Joyce, after 36 good years of Marriage. Geoff busied himself in his work, and even took on an extra role of driving for Community Transport, helping those people less fortunate than himself. He finally retired in 2002, but life took another turn for him, when in 2004, his Eyesight began to fail, and he was forced to give up driving. Throughout the last 5 years, he remained cheerful, and was always prepared to help out where he could. He hated having to burden others, for what seemed such trivial tasks. He was a man of Honesty, Sincerity and Warmth, and all who knew him, will certainly vouch for this. His death will leave a 'space' in so many people's lives, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
